La heterogeneidad de los suelos, caracterizada por un amplio rango de texturas, es un Atributo importante de los valles patagónicos, dándose las condiciones agroecológicas favorables para la producción de fruta fina.
Casi la totalidad de las hectáreas cultivadas en sistema de alta densidad cuentan con riego presurizado y control de heladas por sistema de aspersión. Las diferentes variedades son Newstar, Newstar y celeste (tempranas), Sunburst, stella y bing (media estación), Van y Lapins, burlat, napolitana (tardías), Sweet heart (muy tardías, para fines de diciembre en Trelew).
